Asics x Mita Sneakers Gel Lyte Speed
A new collaboration between Asics and Mita Sneakers will hit the market this September. The lightweight running shoe Gel-Lyte Speed is an evolution from the technologically equipped Gel-Light III from 1990. Gel-Lyte Speed, built to meet the demand of increasingly diversifying US runners looking for lightweight shoes, was launched in the US in 1991 and the following year in Japan.
The Gel-Lyte Speed features the split tongue construction; an idea put forward by a shoe developer at the Asics head offices in Kobe in 1988 to prevent the tongue from slipping inside while running. Long-distance runners started taking to this new idea, and the split tongue system was used in the Gel-Lyte III and later in the Gel-Lyte Speed.
The color tone of the 500-pair Gel-Lyte Speed limited edition, a collaboration with Mita Sneakers, was inspired by tropical fruits that bring to mind a comfortable, lightweight and cushioned run along a tropical island beach. The upper uses gradation to further fortify the summer feel. Some of the nylon materials in the upper were inspired by the cotton-woven fabrics often used in Hawaiian summer clothing. Tropical is a key word in this collection.
Nike - Air Force 1 - Halloween 2009 | Savage Beast
Nike will continue the release of their Halloween themed Air Force 1’s this year with this new Halloween 2009 AF1 that is being called the “Savage Beast” as it features an all over Orange pony hair upper and even midsole. The shoes feature the words “Savage Beast” on the heel which is the reason some have already given this shoe that nickname. The only parts of the shoe that isn’t Orange are the Swoosh and heel tab which are in Sail/White. No word on the exact release date of these shoes but expect them to drop sometime in the month of October at select Nike Sportswear retailers worldwide.
Nike Sportswear- Fall/Winter 2009- Air Trouble Mid “So Light”
New from Nike Sportswear as a part of the Fall/Winter 2009 collection is a new Air Trouble Mid “So Light” featuring a very popular cosmic print that had been adapted onto t-shirts and various designers’ collections. The psychedelic cosmic print is set off with an elastic neon purple cut-out heel panel with “Nike” embroidered on it in black. The Swoosh extends all the way back to the heel stripe and the soles are black just like the other upper panels that accent the shoes. These kicks come with a “So Light” lace tag that could be commenting on the Nike Air Technology used on these shoes. These are just the right amount of funky to go with the wintry black and neutral wardrobe. Out of this world? We think so.These are now available through colette.
